BUSINESS DEPARTMENT

The Business Department provides the following services to the MISD and LEAs:

  • Benefits –all leave reports, health, dental, optical, life and annuities.
  • Bids - MISD and/or countywide bids. For instance, instructional and paper supplies, custodial, energy, maintenance contracts and insurance.
  • Budget - March 2006/2007; June 2006/2007; July 2007/2008; March 2007/2008; June 2007/2008; July 2008/2009.

  • Custodial Staff - maintain the interior and exterior of the ESC including repairs, snow removal, lawn care, and ordering custodial supplies for all the MISD buildings.

  • Food Service – shared consultant with Oakland Schools who works with local school districts' school lunch and breakfast programs.

  • Inventory - compiled and updated for the MISD. Fixed asset records are maintained for insurance purposes as well as compliance with government accounting standards.
  • MSCSBO School Supply Bid - 2008/2009 Bid

  • Payroll, Accounts Payable and Receivable - paying all MISD employees and all MISD bills, process conference requests, daily travel and various invoices. Investments are made when cash flow allows.

  • Public Act 413 Information - 2006/2007

  • Pupil Accounting - records of the 21 local school districts and public school academies, plus our own center schools which are audited annually.
  • Purchasing – approves purchases for the MISD, obtains quotes and monitors special projects.

  • Summaries and Surveys 2006-2007 - statistical report of data collected from all Macomb County schools submitted to the Michigan Department of Education and the MISD in many areas of interest.

  • Tax Collection - collect school taxes for various LEA districts, Macomb County Community College, and the MISD.
  • Tax Deferred Purchase Program - Allows MISD employees to purchase service credit to apply toward their retirement through a tax-deferred payroll deduction.

  • Transportation – provide transportation for students attending our center program schools and coordinates special education transportation for our 21 districts.
  • Workers' Compensation – work with employees who file claims and provide a "favored work" program for injured workers.
