Transition planning for your
Early On child begins before
his/her third birthday.
This process involves
meetings, visits to
programs, and team
decision-making. You
are an important member of
your child's transition
team. Your service
coordinator will be a part
of the transition process.
If appropriate, a
representative of your local
school district will also be
present.
As you
transition from Early On, we
would like to give you some
things to think about.
How can you be prepared to
make the best choice for
your child? What are
the things you should know
before making the choice?
As you read through "Transition,
Moving On From Early On,"
we hope that you find some
valuable information that
will assist your child in
his/her future as he/she
learns and grows.

The
Michigan Department
of Education, Office
of Early Childhood
Education and Family
Services, along with
the Parent
Involvement
Committee of the
Michigan Interagency
Coordinating
Council, developed
Parent Guides.
The guides were
developed out of a
request from a
stakeholder group of
parents of young
children who
reported that the
most difficult
transition time for
them was
kindergarten entry.

Early
On Michigan also
produces a
Transition Guide
for families exiting
out of Early On. |
