Welcome to Maple Lane
Maple Lane Elementary School is a
special education program for students with severe emotional
impairments. It provides services to students ages 3 through 12 who
reside in Macomb County, Michigan. The program has been operated by
the Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD) since 1977 and has been
housed at Maple Lane on Dryden in Sterling Heights since 1980.
At Maple Lane we strive to provide our
students with the most educationally sound programming available. We
vary the program to meet the individual needs of each student. Our
academic curriculum includes language arts (reading, English, spelling),
math, social studies, science, health, physical education, personal
adjustment, life skills, computer literacy and fine and applied
arts. Our program focuses heavily on altering behavioral problems
which affect the educational process. Teaching pro-social skills and
providing a system designed to encourage generalization of these skills is
the foundation of our curriculum.
