     Positive Behavior & Learning Support

School Psychology Consultant Activities

The consultant for school psychology and positive behavior and learning support at the MISD provides leadership and support for the local districts by designing, providing and facilitating educationally relevant professional development and consultation in the areas of student behavior and learning. The current focus is providing training, tools and support for school psychologists, school social workers and teacher consultants in the areas of school-wide and individual positive behavior support, classroom management, and response to intervention.  

School Psychology/School Social Work Support
  • School-wide PBS team consultation

  • Response to Intervention consultation

  • Individual Behavior Planning (must be approved by district’s special education director)
  • Consultation with local district building teams, school psychologists, school social workers, and teacher consultants as needed

Professional Development

The consultant provides or facilitates various professional workshops and in-services to support local districts keep abreast of current trends in behavior and learning such as:

  • School-Wide Positive Behavior Support
  • Behavioral Interventions
  • Academic Interventions
  • Response to Intervention
  • Positive Behavior Support for Young Children
  • Conducting Functional Behavior Assessments and Writing Effective Behavior Intervention Plans
