Experience the
Trail Essay and Artwork Contest

Macomb County and the Macomb
Intermediate School District are
hosting an essay and artwork contest
for students in grades 6-8. This
year’s theme is “Experience the
Trails”. Students may submit an
entry in both the essay and the
artwork categories; however, they
are limited to one entry per
category. Submissions will be judged
on originality, technique and color
selection. First place in each
category will receive a new bike
donated by Macomb County Bike Shops.
Runner ups in each category will be
awarded a certificate.

Overview

The Language Arts program at Macomb ISD is based on the Michigan
Department of Education English Language Arts Standards and Content
Expectations.
Our mission is to provide leadership for a balanced literacy program
throughout the curriculum equipping students with the communication
and thinking skills necessary to become literate and informed individuals.
We partner with local districts by
providing staff development, committee work,
offering building and district in-services,
training on specific standards or areas of
the content expectations, and bringing in
outside speakers, and writing and managing
grants

Elementary |
MISD language arts focus for early
literacy continues through the MLPP
training, SERP, DIBELS, Para-reading, and
the Reading First Training, Foundations. All
of these programs focus on Literacy in 3 D:
data-driven, decision-making for
differentiated instruction.
