Special Education Program Monitoring

SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM MONITORING

The Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD), in collaboration with the local districts and public school academies, monitors compliance as it pertains to both State and Federal regulations. For the past decade, the Michigan Department of Education employed a system called the Continuous Improvement Monitoring System (CIMS) to assist in this monitoring process, the development of corrective action plans, implementation and evaluation.  The program was recently replaced with a new system called Catamaran. Catamaran is the name of the new data and resource portal from the Office of Special Education (OSE).

Catamaran

Catamaran is the system used by the state to promote positive outcomes and ensure compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of 2004 and the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education. Catamaran is designed to support districts and service areas in meeting their obligations of the IDEA, the MARSE, and state-identified priorities. Catamaran reflects the priorities of the IDEA 2004 and the State Performance Plan (SPP) and is aligned with the School Improvement Framework.

For more information about requesting access to Catamaran, how to complete work, or training opportunities, please visit the Catamaran Training Website.
