Event Description
Prerequisite: New tutors must complete Session 1 prior to taking Session 2. Tutors must complete assessments with students prior to taking Session 2.Target Audience: All teachers who will be participating in the High Dosage Tutoring program for Mathematics through the MISD. Tutors that are new to the program will attend both training days (Session 1 and Session 2). Returning tutors from last year only need to attend Session 2.
Tutoring is one of the most effective means of lifting student achievement. Research has shown that well-designed tutoring programs can be very effective in improving children's academic growth. Structure tutoring models with high quality implementation allow tutors to personalize learning experiences tailored to specific student needs. The effects of tutoring programs tend to be the strongest among earlier grades. The goal of the MISD tutoring partnership is to maximize academic potential, build self-esteem/motivation, and ensure the academic success of Macomb County students.
Participants will receive the curriculum resource materials, as well as the student materials required for tutoring. This training will be located IN-PERSON at the MISD. A light dinner will be provided.
