Event Description
Target Audience: New Teachers (1-3 years)
Presenter(s): Renee Stapels, Michelle Marcellin, & Michelle Kado
Description: This Saturday session will plant the seeds of positivity with your students through this special professional learning opportunity for New Teachers around cultivating positive classroom environments. Participants will rotate through all three sessions:
Growth Mindset: This session will equip K-12 educators with practical strategies to foster a growth mindset in their classrooms, transforming students' perceptions or learning and unlocking their full potential. Based on the groundbreaking work of Carol Dweck, we'll explore the fundamental differences between fixed and growth mindsets and delve into the neuroscience behind these beliefs.
Cooperation in Action: Join us for an interactive professional development session designed to help new K-12 teachers build a strong, positive classroom environment rooted in cooperation. Through live, hands-on simulations, participants will experience the power of one-minute challenges to foster teamwork, collaboration, and a growth mindset. These quick and engaging activities are designed to teach students the value of cooperation while giving teachers practical strategies for promoting a cooperative classroom culture.
Mindful Connections: This session is designed to help K-12 educators foster social-emotional learning (SEL), belonging, and mindfulness within their classrooms. Participants will explore effective strategies for creating supportive and inclusive environments where students feel connected, valued, and emotionally safe.
Any no shows/late cancellations will be charged $15.00 per session.
Please cancel in writing no later than 7 days prior to the workshop start date. Please email any cancellations to Alex Bryan, abryan@misd.net.
