Calm Classroom Training Year 1 - Series B

September 12, 2024 - 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM

Event Description

Target audience: All Macomb County general and special educators, paraprofessionals, and administrators. EXCEPTION-MISD Center Programs and Assessment/MIPP staff are ineligible for this training.

This training begins with a VIRTUAL session with four additional one hour sessions that will be held FACE-TO-FACE at the Macomb Intermediate School District.

The Initial Calm Classroom Academy: Available to begin on Thursday, September 12, 2024 through Thursday, September 26, 2024. Approximate time: 2 hours, completed VIRTUALLY on your own schedule, not as a full group.


Session #1 - Preparing to Teach: September 26, 2024 from 4:45-5:45p.m
The first session will focus on introducing Calm Classroom to your students and implementation strategies.

Session #2 - Program Check-In and Self-Care Foundations: October 24, 2024 from 4:45-5:45p.m.  
The second session will focus on strengthening program implementation and beginning the discussion around teacher wellness and self-care.

Session #3 - Self-Care Planning: November 21, 2024 from 4:45-5:45p.m.  
In the third session, participants will have the opportunity to reflect on different approaches to relieving stress and caring for their mental and emotional health outside of the classroom.

Session #4 - Community Care:  December 12, 2024 from 4:45-5:45p.m
In this last session, the facilitator will guide participants through three simple exercises that they can do on their own and with students to help cultivate a positive mindset in and outside of the classroom.

Please note this training is *limited to the staff who register by January 16, 2023.

All participants will receive a Calm Classroom kit.

Cost: This training is FREE to attend, however online registration is mandatory.

Participants are REQUIRED to attend all five PD sessions and pick up their kits at the MISD.

This program is offered for  6 SCECHs, pending approval.
