Through interactive large-and small-group experiences and individual reflection, participants will learn how the wealth of materials included in The Creative Curriculum for Preschool, Guided Edition help teachers engage children in meaningful language and literacy experiences.

Become familiar with GELN's Essential Instructional Practices in Early Mathematics: Prekindergarten to Grade 3. Practice using open-ended materials and questions to bring math concepts into the classroom. Share information from Exploring Mathematics Through Play in the Early Childhood Classroom by Amy Noelle Parks. Learn ways to incorporate math during read-alouds.

The purpose of the Essential Practices in Early Literacy is to increase Michigan's capacity to improve children's literacy by identifying a small set of research supported daily core literacy instructional practices. Participants will learn about the different aspects of Al's Pals, including developmentally appropriate, puppet-based lessons impactful teaching approaches and engaging family resources.
