Consultation services are available to local district general or special education staff working with deaf and hard of hearing students.
Services which may be provided are:
- Provide information about how a student's hearing loss affects participation in the curriculum.
- Suggest accommodations that can be made in the classroom.
- Assist at IEP meetings to clarify student's needs related to hearing loss.
- Observe students in the classroom and provide suggestions to the teacher.
- Help to assess current progress, needs, and plans for transition.
- Meet with teachers, ancillary staff and/or parents to discuss student needs.
- Conduct inservice meetings with school staff regarding deaf and hard of hearing.
