This workshop is not eligible for Professional Development Funds but it is eligible for substitute reimbursement. Application for substitute reimbursement subsidy must be made at the time of registration. You are only eligible for substitute reimbursement if you are a Macomb Classroom Teacher. Target Audience: District or building-based education coaches (instructional coaches, content coaches, technology coaches, etc.) who support adults in a secondary setting (6-12+ grade).
The Secondary Coaching Network is intended for instructional coaches and teacher leaders who focus on coaching staff to support Tier 1 instruction. The purpose of the coaching network is to provide participants with ongoing professional learning to deepen knowledge surrounding evidence-based instructional practices and to engage in a collaborative environment centered on building the capacity of adult learners.

Macomb County coaches will collaborate to:
1. Engage in professional learning sessions surrounding a variety of topics related to day-to-day coaching..
Topics include:
a. Essential Coaching Foundations: Modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, observing/providing feedback, and facilitating teacher teams to enhance teacher practice and student learning.
b. Adult Theory: Apply adult learning principles to build collaborative relationships.
c. Assessment: Analysis and use of data to differentiate and inform instruction.
d. Instruction: Selection and training of research based instructional practices and interventions that accelerate student learning.
e. Content-Focused Exploration: Take time to die into the latest research in your discipline(s)
f. Book Study: Engage in a book study relevant to coaching and leadership.
2. Network with other coaches in the county to share effective practices and collaborate around challenges unique to a secondary setting.
