Make sure people are able to scan your page quickly to find what they are looking for.
Avoid lengthy paragraphs.
Spell out a name at least once with the acronym in parenthesis before using the acronym alone.
Use a welcoming, friendly tone. The website should not read like a formal paper or grant.
Only add content of benefit to your audience.
Write in a journalistic style with the most important information toward the top of the page.
When copying pages over, use the Paste as Plain Text button. Do your formatting within Cascade Server rather than bringing it over from another site or document.
Rebuild all links in Cascade Server rather than copying them over.
Avoid text-heavy pages.
Only add one contact to the home page of your site so that the person with questions knows exactly who to call or email.
Any lists with more than 10 items should be organized under subheadings even if the list is alphabetized.
Remember that web sites are not Word documents. They need to adapt to a variety of platforms, be consistent from one page to the next, and be easily scanned.
